State Leadership & Education Grants

Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Leadership & Educational Grants help state and regional associations strengthen their efforts, expand opportunities and create a lasting impact within the juniors at the grassroots level.

At the Grassroot Level

The Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) is excited to continue offering state leadership and education grants to state associations. These grassroot grants are available to all state junior associations based on application and help us work together as we build the pipeline of leaders at the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA).

HYFA and NJHA appreciate all of the state associations that help make the NJHA one of the best beef youth organizations in the world. Grant funding is to be used for any leadership or educational goals of the state’s junior members to participate on the national level. Grants have been used for leadership and educational activities at the state level, travel funding to NJHA conferences, shipping costs for the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Contest and more.

The History

HYFA’s State Leadership & Education grants were launched in 2023, to take the place of state raffle baskets at the Junior National Hereford Expo. Instead, states had the opportunity to apply for funds from HYFA that were raised through NJHA fundraising events and opportunities. The funds raised throughout the year are essential for supporting a variety of activities that benefit members and enhance their leadership development. Thanks to the generous contributions, these efforts continue to foster the next generation of leaders in the Hereford breed and the agricultural community.

Acceptable Uses for Grant Funding

  • Leadership and Educational Activities at the state level
  • Travel funding to the BOLD Leadership Conference
  • Travel and registration funding for the Faces of Leadership Conference
  • Travel funding for the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Field Day
  • Or other Leadership/Educational opportunities benefitting NJHA members as explained in the application.
