Boots and Brew Fundraiser

The Hereford Youth Foundation of America hosted a Boots and Brew reception to celebrate Hereford youth and Halloween on Oct. 31 in Kansas City during the Annual Meeting. Highlights of the evening were the distribution of $25,000 in scholarships to deserving Hereford youth, the presentation of two special gifts to HYFA during the program, and live and silent auctions to benefit HYFA. “The success of the reception and auctions would not be possible without the support of Hereford breeders nationwide, especially those who donate and purchase,” says Ray Ramsey, HYFA president. “The growth of the foundation and its support of youth continues to ignite a spirit within Hereford breeders.”

HYFA Announces Thompson Estate Pledge

In a special presentation at Boots and Brew Bob and Gretchen Thompson of Glengrove Farm, Rolla, Mo., have graciously included HYFA in their future estate plans. Bob encourages other Hereford breeders to engage in the same form of perpetual giving that they are thinking about to distribute their estates. (Link to story on Bob and Gretchen)

Another Boots and Brew highlight was when Oklahoma Hereford Association President, the late Richard Gebhart presented Amy Cowan, HYFA director, a check for $20,000 for HYFA to help fund future Junior National Hereford Expos. The money is residual income from past events hosted in Oklahoma.
