The $5 Million Capital Campaign Unveiled

HYFA’s $5 Million Capital Campaign is Unveiled at Third Harvest Gala on Oct. 22 at the Westin Crown Center hotel, downtown Kansas City. A crowd of 300 celebrated the significance of Hereford youth and their importance to the Hereford breed’s future at the 3rd annual event. The climax of the evening was the unveiling of the capital campaign, which will serve as the backbone of the HYFA scholarship program and will be used to support educational programs of the National Junior Hereford Association.

To kick off the campaign, several donors came forward to make their pledges including Bill and Jo Ellard, EE Ranches Inc., Dallas, Texas, who pledged $200,000 which will perpetually fund two $5,000 scholarships. In addition, the 2005 Junior National Hereford Expo planning committee gave $20,000 to benefit future events and Bob and Lucy Kube, Warrenton, Va., presented a scholarship endowment check for $50,000 that will perpetually fund a $2,500 scholarship that honors Bob Kube’s dedication as a HYFA board member.

Scholarship payouts continue to climb with the first $1,250 Bob and Dolores Call Scholarship being awarded to Mark Sullivan, Chehalis, Wash., as well as three $1,250 scholarships and two Gary Bishop Memorial Scholarships being awarded to deserving Hereford youth.
