Growing a Lasting Legacy Campaign Kicks Off

The Growing a Lasting Legacy Campaign kicked off during the 2013 American Hereford Association Annual Meeting in Kansas City. The legacy campaign was started to ensure the sustainability of future Junior National Hereford Expos (JNHEs) and educational events for years to come. A total of $144,000 was raised that evening with a $50,000 inaugural gift from Sue and the late Jim Rowland of G&R Polled Herefords, Marysville, Kan. Jim and Sue have been touching the lives of Hereford youth one generation at a time since attending their first junior national in 1974 and this through this inaugural gift their legacy continues to touch future generations of JNHE attendees. The enthusiasm and support surrounding the legacy event propelled HYFA closer to three million dollars. To celebrate the campaign’s kickoff, the first foundation club memberships were sold for a total of $37,000. Jensen Bros. Herefords, Courtland Kan., GLM Herefords, Marysville, Kan., and Springhill Herefords, Blue Rapids, Kan., all purchased a joint membership in honor of Sue Rowland.
