GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Mason Allan, Nocona, Texas, and Logan Topp, Grace City, N.D., were the recipients of the two $2,500 Hereford Herdsman Scholarships at the 2024 VitaFerm®Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Scholarship, Award and Maroon Jacket Ceremony on July 11 in Grand Island, Neb. Mason Allan, Nocona, Texas Allan will be a junior at Texas Tech University this fall, majoring in animal science with a focus in beef cattle nutrition. After college, Allan plans to pursue a career as either a beef cattle nutritionist or in the commodities sector. “My biggest passion lies within raising and selling Hereford cattle with emphasis on junior exhibitors,” Allansaid. “I plan to continue to serve and promote our breed to everyone I come into contact with. If allowed, my biggest dream is to one day have a family of my own who exhibit Herefords across the country and are afforded the same opportunities I have had.” Logan Topp, Grace City, N.D.Topp is a senior at Kansas State University (K-State) where he is studying animal sciences and industry. After his time at K-State, Topp hopes to produce breed-changing bulls that have the ability to add pounds and profit to a customers' calf crop on an annual basis. GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Salem Sifford, Goldvein, Va., was selected as the recipient for the NOP Founders $2,000 Scholarship at the 2024 Vitaferm®Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Scholarship, Award and Maroon Jacket Ceremony on July 11 in Grand Island, Neb. Salem Sifford is a junior at Virginia Tech University where she is majoring in dairy science with a minor in animal and poultry sciences. She plans to work with families to improve their operations. Sifford is a third-generation Hereford and Holstein breeder. She has been a member of the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) for 13 years. GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —Logan McFatridge, National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) member from Otterbein, Ind., received the $2,500 Bud Snidow Award at the 2024 Vitaferm®Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE).
