Gavin Rhode, Stewartsville, Mo., was awarded the 2024 Larson Polled Herefords Scholarship during the 2024 American Hereford Association (AHA) Annual Meeting and Conference in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 25. Rhode is a freshman at the University of Missouri majoring in agribusiness management.

Merry Family/MGM Memorial Scholarship Awarded to Mitchem Regan Mitchem, Vale, N.C., was awarded the 2024 Merry Family/MGM Memorial Scholarship. The Merry Family/MGM Memorial Scholarship of $2,500 is sponsored by HYFA and dedicated to students pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine, carrying on the legacy of Gordon and Marian Merry from Wisconsin.

Mason Collins, Lewisburg, Tenn., was awarded the Tennessee River Music Inc., Randy and Kelly Owen Scholarship. Collins is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, completing his degree in food and agriculture business. After college, Collins hopes to return to his fourth-generation family insurance, real estate and auction company and be involved in cattle marketing as a sale manager, consultant or cattle producer.

Salem Sifford, Goldvein, Va., was awarded the 2024 Bob and Lucy Kube Scholarship. Sifford is a junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University studying dairy science. She plans to pursue a master’s degree and then work in higher education as an associate professor and livestock judging coach.

Raney Anderson, Canyon City, Ore., was awarded the 2024 Whitehead Ranches Scholarship. Anderson is a sophomore at the College of Southern Idaho majoring in agricultural education with plans of continuing her education with a master’s degree. Her career goals include teaching agriculture and making an impact on the next generation.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Samuel Birdsall, Torrington, Wyo., received the Charles E. Boyd Memorial $1,500 scholarship at the 2024 Vitaferm®Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Scholarship, Award and Maroon Jacket Ceremony on July 11 in Grand Island, Neb. Birdsall will be a sophomore at Kansas State University (K-State) where he is majoring in agribusiness. After college, Birdsall plans to pursue a master’s degree in finance from K-State, with the goal of being involved in the agricultural finance industry. Birdsall is passionate about the Hereford breed. “I plan to stay involved with the breed by giving my future children the same opportunity I did in terms of raising and showing Hereford cattle.
