Leadership

Through the Faces of Leadership Conference made possible by the Coley-Malir Leadership Endowment young leaders are exposed to opportunities in the industry and the conference cultivates communication skills, encourage working in team settings and focus on individual development. This summer the conference was held in Oklahoma City and a highlight was a trip to Oklahoma State University.

The National Reference Sire Program (NRSP) is the backbone of many Hereford research efforts and is essential for driving the breed forward. The program has been the cornerstone for developing new selection tools, validating the efficacy of genomic tools and more. “The accuracy of the predictions is so much more powerful when you have multiple sire progeny observations in large contemporary groups in a true progeny test like this one, compared to onetime snapshots collected in a performance bull test,” explains Shane Bedwell, American Hereford Association director of breed improvement and chief operating officer.

Save the date for the Hereford Season of Giving, Dec 4-8. Choosing to give to the Research Pillar will continue to promote the Hereford breed forward for future generations. https://herefordyouthfoundation.org/campaigns-in-action/hereford-season-of-giving/

With these partners, the Hereford Season of Giving is aiming to raise $150,000. Gifts adding up to $75,000 made possible by the Johnny Winston Family, the National Hereford Women, Cottonwood Springs Farm, Bar One Ranch and Grimmel Schaake Cattle Co., have been laid under the tree, and now we need donors to match this number so the foundation can unwrap these gifts.

All going towards the mission of scholarship, leadership, education and research, the Hereford Season of Giving happens Dec. 4-8, 2023. Give during that week and you will be entered into a drawing for a custom American Hereford Association branded chute from Priefert.
