July 24, 2026
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kade Boatman, Rockford, Ill., and Brock Miller, Haxtun, Colo., recently received $1,500 scholarships from the Livestock Marketeers, an organization of livestock marketing professionals. Livestock Marketeers Scholarships are awarded to college-age students interested in pursuing careers in livestock marketing.
The Livestock Marketeers Scholarship was established in 2023 when the organization raised $23,000 at its annual Hall of Fame Banquet. Today, the Livestock Marketeers have gathered more than $50,000 in support, ensuring this scholarship will continue for generations to come. Along with an interest in pursuing a career in livestock marketing, the Livestock Marketeers scholarship award recipients are required to be affiliated with a livestock organization.
Kade Boatman, is a sophomore at Lake Land College, where he is working on his agricultural transfer degree He is a member of the college’s livestock judging team, and his future aspirations include auctioneering, animal genetics and potentially a role in agricultural policy.
Currently, he plans to pursue a career as a livestock auctioneer, combining his passion for the cattle industry with strong communication, leadership and sales skills gained through 4-H, FFA and the National Junior Hereford Association. As a livestock auctioneer, his goal would be to serve as a link between producers and buyers, helping ensure that animals are marketed in a way that reflects their true value. Boatman was in attendance at the VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo and recognized for this honor during the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Scholarship, Awards and Maroon Jacket Ceremony, Thursday, July 9 in Madison, Wis.
Brock Miller is a freshman at Northeastern Junior College where he is pursuing a double major in animal science and agriculture business, while planning to eventually pursue his master’s in agriculture economics.
Miller hails from a fifth-generation Angus and cow-calf operation in northeastern Colorado. His family has a herd of approximately 90 commercial and 60 registered Angus pairs. Both his dad and uncle manage a separate Angus herd of approximately 300 registered Angus for Spruce Mountain Ranch. Growing up around the family operation and the ranch has taught Miller more than animal husbandry; he learned hard work, critical thinking and the importance of paying attention to details.
The Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) manages the Livestock Marketeers scholarship fund. Contributions to the fund can be made via Amy Cowan, HYFA director, at acowan@hereford.org. Applications for the 2027 scholarships will open in the spring and be due on April 15, 2027.
